CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS The assessment of the tidal resource assessment group is valuable for identifying geographical regions of interest for the further study of potential tidal power. However, although Pmax (suitably modified to allow for multiple tidal constituents) may be regarded as an upper bound to the theoretical resource, it is an overestimate of the technical resource, as it does not take turbine characteristics and efficiencies into account.
